The first loan - savings cash came into operation in March 1885 in Khodjent city. In December 1925 the first State labors savings cash #1341 under Narkomfin of Tajik Autonomious Soviet Socialist Republic was opened and four more cashes were opened in 1926 under the post-telegraph office.
In 1927-1928 savings cashes appeared in many other regions of the republic and from the total number of the population approximately 10-11% were on the list of the depositors of the savings banks.
The next years, an appreciable increase in the number of the depositors and deposits to the savings banks was observed. Just during a year and ten months of 1957 the number of the savings cashes in comparison with 1954 increased by 21 savings cashes and all together in the republic there were 340 of them.
In October 1987 Tajikistan State labor savings cashes (Gostrudsberkassi) were renamed to the Tajik Republic Bank of the Savings Bank of USSR.
In January 1992 on the basis of the Tajik Republic Bank of the Savings Bank of USSR the Savings Bank of republic of Tajikistan was established.
In November 1998 Tajik Savings Bank was given a status of the State Bank and now it has been called State Savings Bank of republic of Tajikistan “Amonatbonk”
Nowadays the State Savings Bank of Republic of Taikistan has the divaricated net of the brunches located in the whole territory of the Republic of Tajikistan. The bank affiliates 5 regional, 70 city and district brunches, and there are also 503 agencies included. The Bank has become a member of the World Interbank Financial Telecommunications Community and connected up to SWIFT network.
At the General Assembly of the World Institute of Savings Banks held in 2004 in Brussels, “Amonabonk” became a member of the World Institute of Savings Banks.
